Contribution is before overhead not entered here (rent, salaries outside this account, software) and before tax. This is an arithmetic aid, not financial advice or a promise of what any client will pay.

Method

How the numbers are calculated

For a fuller walkthrough with examples, read SEO reseller pricing: markup, margin and delivery costs.

What counts as total cost?
Fulfillment cost plus your own costs for the same client and period: account management time, QA, reporting, payment processing and any tools used only for that account.
What's the difference between margin and markup?
Margin divides the difference by the price; markup divides it by the cost. A 100% markup is a 50% margin. Quote targets in one or the other, consistently.
Why does it say N/A?
Margin isn't defined when the price is zero, and markup isn't defined when total cost is zero. The calculator says so rather than showing a misleading number.
Can I save or share results?
Not from this page. Results aren't stored or put into the URL, so client figures don't end up in links, logs or analytics.
